Rejected petition Give GPS greater say on patients claiming Esa or PIP

Using companies like atos who just meet a person for the first time at an assessment level the greatest say on the persons medical conditions and ability to work is wrong. This should have the smallist imput not the biggest. A person's gp knows their patients better than anyone.

These assessments are causing extra stress and hardship by being done by a person who has no knowledge of the client other than what is written on a piece of paper in front of them. Gps know their patients and have probably been treating them for years. Gps have the most knowledge of their patients so they are in a good position to give a clearer picture into their patients whole medical condition so should therfore have the biggest say in the assessment.
