Rejected petition Give all British citizens a vote for life including for the EU referendum

On behalf of all expats living abroad for many years, we call upon HM Government to stand by their electoral promise to fulfill "a vote for life" for all British citizens no matter how long they have not lived in the UK and we all should have had the democratic right to vote in the EU referendum.

More details

About 2.2 million expats have lived abroad for 15+ years. We have various commitments that mean we do not reside in the UK. However, we are still proud to be British and are therefore dismayed that we were unable to vote in the EU Referendum. We believe that democracy has not occurred until each and every British citizen holding a British passport has had their right to vote on such a fundamental issue. Then and only then can HM Government claim that all British people have had their say.
