Rejected petition Match officials to be allowed to wear recording devices during Football Matches
The FA figures for 2016 are 111 proven cases of assaults on match officials. It has not been declared how many cases were reported but not proven.111 proven cases equate to over 2 a week.More evidence will protect match officials & act as a deterrent.Football Law forbids recording by match officials.
More details
A growing number of match officials are being assaulted & hospitalised whist refereeing including refs under the age of 18, the use of recording devices will protect refs & deter assaults & abuse. The footballing family want a positive footballing experience this is ruined by this sort of behaviour. Referees have been headbutted, punched, spat at & verbally abused.Recording devices will capture positive behaviour as well as negative & will help participation in 11 aside which is falling nationwide.
