Rejected petition To get the £50 administration fee for child maintenance payments abolished

As of January 2018 child support agencies are taking £50 in administration fees for people like myself to have payments taken from there wages on top of £100s of child support allowance that we pay. This is outrageous and many of us cannot afford this. Please help me by getting this abolished.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

There isn't a £50 administration fee for all child maintenance payments, so we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

A £50 fee is charged if the Child Maintenance Service has to put in place a Deductions from Earnings Order (DEO), where child maintenance is collected direct from an employer, or a Regular Deduction Order (RDO), which allows maintenance to be collected from a bank or building society account.

Both DEOs and RDOs are enforcement measures taken by the CMS when a non-resident parent is in arrears. Alternatively, a non-resident parent can request that the CMS sets up a DEO.
