Rejected petition Make it a requirement for road cyclists to have insurance.

After recently being in a a road traffic accident with a cyclist who was at fault, I have found it damn near impossible to recover the cost, It has cost £2000 for the repairs and I have lost my no claims as I have had to claim against my own insurance. (Not including personal injuries)

Further more when contacting several claims companies I have been turned down everytime with one law firm even advising, in their words "95% of cyclists/pedestrians win claims and if truth be told if the cyclist contacted they would more than likely take the claim on for them"
For more background information, I myself was on a motorcycle.
Cyclist having insurance will also benefit as the cyclist as they will be able to cover themselves when their not at fault.
