The tax payers should not be made to foot the bill for policing of mass demonstrations.

Anyone who is convicted of a criminal offense at a protest should have the cost of policing the demonstration divided amongst them and be forced to pay it in the same way student loans are pursued (although with a lower threshold for repayment).

Although I support the rights of any group to hold a demonstration, I do not think that the tax payer should foot the bill for policing any criminal element.
