Petition Regional Governments
More details
The UK should consider a federal make-up of regional governments, including the 9 regions of England and those of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This means regional governments act as an alternative channel of communication and participation, reducing the power of Parliamentary sovereignty within our Quasi-federal constitution. This additional channel would provide a more local involvement in politics and governing, encouraging wider participation and a more representative democracy. Meanwhile they will not only directly appeal to the given regions; but diminish the risk of possible controversy or outcry’s due to national government's actions or proposals. Regional governments will adapt more applicable aspects of the ruling party's manifesto, enforcing them in the most appropriate ways. They can use different techniques to combat arising issues, using different measures and 'test' the appropriateness. The most effective then being diffused more widely on a national scale.
