Legislate to force domestic appliance manufacturers provide fitting instructions with the spares they sell to the public to provide freedom of choice other than using the manufacturers own expensive service engineers.
Customer Service Depts are very quick to recommend that "a service engineer be booked" for even the simplest of repair procedures ensuring a lucrative revenue flow for their service operations. Fitting information should also be available to non affiliated organisations.
