Rejected petition EU send resource to support communities receiving refugees and economic migrants

By March 2016 over 100,000 refugees and migrants arrived in the European Union. Regardless of attempts to fortify internal EU borders and politicking from member states, numbers continue to increase as conditions worsen.

More details

The UK should lead an EU, or Pan-European, task force that scopes the scale and practicality of resources required for Greece (Lesbos) and Italy (Sicily) to be able to safely receive, process and relocate the high volumes of migrants and refugees.

This is a radical departure from current policies. I'm calling for large scale, formalised resettling programme with defined entry points for refugees and migrants alike.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We can't accept your petition in its current form as it does not call for a clear action from the UK Government and Parliament. If you would like the UK to urge the EU to create a formalised resettlement programme, you could start a petition about that.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
