This petition was submitted during the 2017–2019 Conservative government

Rejected petition Impose sanctions on Donald Trump.

As the UK has a special relationship with the US, it is important for us to take a symbolic stand on the world stage and denounce racism and xenophobia which are encouraged by Mr Drumpff's reckless tweeting and support for extremist groups.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not exactly sure what you mean by 'impose sanctions'.

You could start a new petition asking the UK to work with the UN and EU to impose trade sanctions on the United States of America, if that's what you want to happen. You can find out more about sanctions and embargoes here:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sanctions-embargoes-and-restrictions

If you want Donald Trump to be refused entry to the UK, you may wish to sign this petition instead: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/206804

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
