Rejected petition Start mental health education and awareness curriculums within secondary schools
Young people across the UK are suffering with mental health and stress related issues, heavily caused by school and the education system, but is not addressed or attended to by schools. These mental health problems have severe consequences, affecting the futures of these young people.

“75% of mental illness start before a child is 18, while 50% of mental illness in adults root before age 15.” This has led to “suicide being the leading cause of death in young people aged 20-34 in the UK”[1] since “70% of children and young people, with mental illness, have not had appropriate interventions at an early age.”[2]
"56% of young people believe they will be treated differently if diagnosed. 55% believe they would lose friends. 51% believe they would be embarrassed" as it's not regularly spoken about in school or socially accepted.[1]
