The project has always been a vanity project, the cost of which massively outweighs the benefits, not to mention no government project ever escapes the inevitable cost and time overruns

In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic will cost the UK economy and therefore each one of us enormously, to continue with HS2 would be fool hardy. Any government money, is taxpayers money, there has never been a more critical time to spend our money wisely.
