Rejected petition Change PIP assessments so they are fairer on hidden disabilities like autism.

To make the PIP assessment criteria so it includes the struggles of people with learning disabilities, hidden disabilities and autism because as it is they don't count a lot of the struggles people face. Some of these struggles are shown on autism anglia booklet on PIP information and tips.

More details

Modify the way PIP assessments are marked to include issues and struggles faced by those with hidden disabilities/ autism so these count towards your overall PIP score. As in the PIP assessment Q15 Additional information is where the majority of issues around autism fit as they don't fit in any one category.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

The Personal Independence Payment is paid to people who have a health condition or disability which causes difficulties with daily living or getting around. PIP is paid based on the difficulties causes by a health condition or disability. If hidden disabilities such as autism causes difficulties with daily living or getting around a sufferer could claim for PIP in the same way as someone with another health condition or disability.

If you are concerned with how PIP assessments are currently conducted, we have published the following petition calling for the Government to reform PIP assessments, which you might like to sign:
