Rejected petition Do not make masks mandatory for children in primary or secondary schools in UK.

Do not make masks mandatory for children in primary or secondary schools in UK.

More details

Enforcing face coverings on children in schools could disrupt their social interactions and cause further damage when their wellbeing and mental health has already been disproportionately affected. We call on the government to ensure that children can have a normalised social and educational experience.

Why was this petition rejected?

We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.

We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.

Since you started your petition, the Government has confirmed that the use of masks in schools when they re-open on 8 March is recommended, not mandatory. You can find out more about this here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/965446/Face_coverings_in_education_-_March_2021.pdf.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
