They may damage the trachea, spine, and neck, and can increase fear, anxiety, and behavioural problems.\r\n \r\nVeterinary and canine behaviour experts support humane, reward-based training methods, which are safer and more effective. Harnesses and flat collars provide suitable alternatives without causing harm.\r\n \r\nDespite this, choke leads remain legal and widely available. This is inconsistent with modern animal welfare standards and puts many dogs at unnecessary risk.\r\n \r\nWe ask the Government to introduce legislation to ban these devices and promote humane dog
