The UK alone sees 300,000 tonnes of used clothing end up incinerated annually. A YouGov survey for Keep Britain Tidy reports that 79% of adults feel that the UK buys too much stuff. This law would reduce the amount of emissions released due to the burning of used clothes, and would ban the burning of unsold stock if it is able to be recycled.
