Unlike tenants, they have no statutory minimum notice period. We want a 1-month minimum notice period for lodgers.","additional_details":"Under the Equality Act 2010, discrimination in housing based on protected characteristics is generally unlawful. However, the Act contains a “small premises exemption” that allows resident landlords who share living accommodation with a lodger to discriminate when choosing who to live with. \r\n \r\nWhilst this petition respects that conflicts are more likely in a lodging situation that may need the housing relationship to end, it believes there should be a reasonable notice period (a minimum of 1 month) and you should not be allowed to discriminate against protected characteristics (say \"no transgender people\" or \"white people only\").
