Courts should only deem ‘found’ facts surrounding domestic violence if the fact has been over 80% to have been proven or previously been proven in criminal court.","additional_details":"I want each mother and father of their child to have a fair chance of contact. There has been too many instances in which parents cannot or have limited contact with their own child based on family court findings within a fact find. Currently a family court only needs to be 51% sure that an event occurred. How can a judge be sure such events took place on little to no evidence at all? The current percentage should not deem a parent ‘proven’ to have done anything. Innocent until proven guilty.","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":15,"created_at":"2026-07-01T19:03:37.775Z","updated_at":"2026-07-29T10:09:04.940Z","rejected_at":"2026-07-29T10:09:04.943Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2026-07-01T20:08:10.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_on":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"creator_name":null,"rejection":{"code":"duplicate","details":"You may wish to sign this open petition which calls for similar action:\r\n\r\n'Change family law proceedings burden of proof to “beyond a reasonable doubt”'\r\nhttps://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/767449"},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}}}
