We call on the Government to crack down on scalping and hold resellers to account.","additional_details":"Heatwave demand has sold out air conditioners in minutes, letting scalpers relist stock at inflated prices. eBay UK alone has 116 new listings priced 40-300% above RRP (£540-£660 vs £770-£2,050). Resold units often lose warranty cover and bypass F-gas certified installation rules, risking buyers' safety. We ask Government to: ban bulk-buying bots, require marketplaces to act on repeat scalpers, and cap resale markups on essential seasonal goods, with real penalties for breaches.","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":21,"created_at":"2026-07-10T10:08:16.831Z","updated_at":"2026-08-06T12:36:16.582Z","rejected_at":"2026-08-06T12:36:16.585Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2026-07-10T10:45:00.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_on":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"creator_name":null,"rejection":{"code":"duplicate","details":"You may wish to sign this open petition:\r\n'Ban the use of bots to bulk-buy products & reselling them at inflated prices'\r\nhttps://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/769060"},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}}}
