With around 300 million people worldwide relying on water desalination for fresh water, we believe the Government could harness wave power and turn seawater into fresh water, providing an energy-secure, scalable solution to water scarcity.","additional_details":"In Canada, there are already start-ups which produce wave-powered buoys that turn seawater into drinking water without electricity or fuel.\r\n \r\nThe Government has planned to build 9 new reservoirs by 2050 and 9 new desalination plants in England from 2040 but it has received opposition in the southwest due to cost and environmental impact concerns. \r\n \r\nWe believe wave-powered desalination offers a sustainable water source.
