The time should be added to other holidays during the year, keeping the number of school days the same. The break no longer reflects modern life. Longer holidays may reduce term time absence and fines. It will shorten the time some children are without access to school meals \r\nWe ask the Government to consult with all necessary parties and create a calendar that meets the needs of today’s families.","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":6,"created_at":"2026-07-26T16:52:02.892Z","updated_at":"2026-08-20T16:46:28.231Z","rejected_at":"2026-08-20T16:46:28.234Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2026-07-27T08:10:20.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_on":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"creator_name":null,"rejection":{"code":"irrelevant","details":"Term times are a matter for local authorities and schools. \r\n\r\nYou may wish to sign this open petition:\r\n‘Launch a cross departmental review into school term times, holiday care & work’\r\nhttps://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/755734\r\n"},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}}}
