This can unfairly disadvantage someone dismissed shortly before a service anniversary, as almost a full year's additional service is ignored. We believe completed months should be counted pro rata, creating a fairer system that better reflects actual length of service, recognises employees' full contribution and reduces the disproportionate impact that the timing of a termination can have on redundancy pay.","committee_note":null,"state":"open","signature_count":22,"closing_date":"2027-04-02","created_at":"2026-09-07T11:06:31.408Z","updated_at":"2026-10-04T23:05:40.000Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2026-10-02T11:02:54.483Z","closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2026-09-07T12:05:40.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_on":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"creator_name":"Katherine Gillian Buchanan","rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[{"acronym":"DWP","name":"Department for Work and Pensions","url":"https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-work-pensions"}],"topics":[],"signatures_by_country":[{"name":"United Kingdom","code":"GB","signature_count":22}],"signatures_by_constituency":[{"name":"Bracknell","ons_code":"E14001117","mp":"Peter Swallow MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven","ons_code":"E14001129","mp":"Chris Ward MP","signature_count":2},{"name":"Brighton Pavilion","ons_code":"E14001130","mp":"Siân Berry MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Bristol Central","ons_code":"E14001131","mp":"Carla Denyer MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Christchurch","ons_code":"E14001171","mp":"Sir Christopher Chope MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Derby South","ons_code":"E14001194","mp":"Baggy Shanker MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Ealing Southall","ons_code":"E14001209","mp":"Deirdre Costigan MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"East Surrey","ons_code":"E14001215","mp":"Rt Hon Claire Coutinho MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Gillingham and Rainham","ons_code":"E14001246","mp":"Naushabah Khan MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Hackney South and Shoreditch","ons_code":"E14001260","mp":"Dame Meg Hillier MP","signature_count":2},{"name":"Hastings and Rye","ons_code":"E14001274","mp":"Helena Dollimore MP","signature_count":2},{"name":"Herne Bay and Sandwich","ons_code":"E14001282","mp":"Rt Hon Sir Roger Gale MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Islington North","ons_code":"E14001305","mp":"Rt Hon Jeremy Corbyn MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Kingswinford and South Staffordshire","ons_code":"E14001316","mp":"Mike Wood MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Middlesbrough and Thornaby East","ons_code":"E14001367","mp":"Andy McDonald MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Salisbury","ons_code":"E14001460","mp":"Rt Hon John Glen MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Sussex Weald","ons_code":"E14001533","mp":"Ms Nusrat Ghani MP","signature_count":2},{"name":"North Down","ons_code":"N05000013","mp":"Alex Easton MP","signature_count":1}],"signatures_by_region":[{"name":"North East","ons_code":"A","signature_count":1},{"name":"East Midlands","ons_code":"E","signature_count":1},{"name":"West Midlands","ons_code":"F","signature_count":1},{"name":"London","ons_code":"H","signature_count":4},{"name":"South East","ons_code":"J","signature_count":11},{"name":"South West","ons_code":"K","signature_count":3},{"name":"Northern Ireland","ons_code":"N","signature_count":1}],"other_parliamentary_business":[]}}}
