However, EU/Schengen Area countries do not allow travel on a passport if it is more than 10 years since it was issued. In our experience, this has, and continues to have, daily impact on hundreds of UK citizens who have been turned away at Airports and lost their money. Many have and continue to be unable to claim back from insurance companies, credit cards or Airlines.
