To include: when it’s expected to meet the target, what work is planned and its deadline, number of annual spills vs where it should be by now.","additional_details":"Storm overflows release sewage into rivers and the sea when heavy rain overwhelms the sewers. The government’s plan says that by 2050, no overflow should spill in more than 10 storms a year on average. The plan only sets deadlines for broad groups of overflows, though, such as “high priority sites”, and not for each one. We can already see how often each overflow spills. We can’t see which project is supposed to fix it, or whether that project is on schedule. So if you want to know whether the overflow near you is going to be fixed, there’s no easy way to find out. A yearly update for every overflow would let local people, and Parliament, check whether water companies are keeping their promises.","committee_note":"","state":"open","signature_count":14,"closing_date":"2027-05-05","created_at":"2026-09-25T06:49:06.042Z","updated_at":"2026-11-06T10:35:00.000Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2026-11-05T13:39:28.459Z","closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2026-09-25T08:01:40.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_on":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"creator_name":"Robert Worthington","rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[{"acronym":"DEFRA","name":"Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs","url":"https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-environment-food-rural-affairs"}],"topics":[],"signatures_by_country":[{"name":"United Kingdom","code":"GB","signature_count":14}],"signatures_by_constituency":[{"name":"Birmingham Selly Oak","ons_code":"E14001099","mp":"Al Carns MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"East Hampshire","ons_code":"E14001214","mp":"Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Ellesmere Port and Bromborough","ons_code":"E14001222","mp":"Justin Madders MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Enfield North","ons_code":"E14001225","mp":"Feryal Clark MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Isle of Wight East","ons_code":"E14001303","mp":"Joe Robertson MP","signature_count":1},{"name":"Newton Abbot","ons_code":"E14001381","mp":"Martin Wrigley MP","signature_count":3},{"name":"South Devon","ons_code":"E14001484","mp":"Caroline Voaden MP","signature_count":6}],"signatures_by_region":[{"name":"North West","ons_code":"B","signature_count":1},{"name":"West Midlands","ons_code":"F","signature_count":1},{"name":"London","ons_code":"H","signature_count":1},{"name":"South East","ons_code":"J","signature_count":2},{"name":"South West","ons_code":"K","signature_count":9}],"other_parliamentary_business":[]}}}
