These changes delay young people’s independence and limit access to jobs, college and opportunities. We want fairness and safer roads without unnecessary restrictions for young people.","additional_details":"The new driving rules could make life much harder for young people across Northern Ireland, especially those living in rural areas with limited public transport. Learning to drive helps young people access jobs, college and greater independence. We understand the importance of road safety, but believe there should be a fairer balance. We urge the government to listen to young people and reconsider these changes, restoring the previous system while continuing to promote safe driving.","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":7,"created_at":"2026-10-11T17:04:03.942Z","updated_at":"2026-10-26T14:05:59.601Z","rejected_at":"2026-10-26T14:05:57.532Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2026-10-12T15:08:00.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_on":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"creator_name":null,"rejection":{"code":"irrelevant","details":"Your petition is about something that the Northern Ireland Executive and Northern Ireland Assembly is responsible for. \r\n\r\nIf you want to raise this issue you could contact your MLA, or raise it with the Northern Ireland Executive.\r\n\r\nYou can find contact details for your MLAs here: http://www.niassembly.gov.uk/your-mlas/\r\n\r\nYou can find contact details for the departments of the Northern Ireland Executive here: https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/contacts/government-departments-in-northern-ireland"},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}}}
