Rejected petition Community Work for Job Seekers

More details

Every person claiming Jobseeker's allowance (not including anyone claimingdisability or other similar type benefits) is required to work for the community for a full time week (eg, 37.5 hrs). They are allowed whatever time off they need for job interviews and meetings with the jobcentre etc (subject to providing evidence), but other than that, they are required to turn up every day for work.Only if they do not turn up, or if they behave poorly etc will their benefits then be cut. This will:- 1. Keep them off the streets during the day, while not limiting theirability to find paid work2. Give them a sense of purpose and self-worth. They will acquire awork ethic3. Help the community and save money on public services etc
