Rejected petition Make each MP live on a nurse's wage for 4 weeks minimum in each term of office.
We are fed up with people who have no idea of the realities and hardships in our lives, making decisions that make make things worse. They need to learn respect for the real working people in the UK and to remember that the vast majority of the UK population is a lot less well off than they are.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The Government and Parliament don’t have the power to set MPs’ pay. That power was given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010, so that after 2012 MPs no longer had control over their own pay. IPSA conducted a public consultation after 2012 and decided what the salaries of MPs should be after the election.
If you would like to contact IPSA with your suggestion, here’s how to contact them:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
