Closed petition Legislate to protect the identities of police officers for their personal safety

Closed on

With the current heightened threat levels from domestic and foreign terror groups, it is more important than ever that police officers identities are protected and members of the public are prevented from filming, photographing and distributing these images on the internet without lawful authority.

Police officers underpin the task of keeping peace in our country. It is a difficult job which has been publicly targeted by terror groups and protesters with specified threats to the personal safety of police officers and their families.

Spain have a new law named the "Civil Security Law" which includes the provision for the following: "The unauthorised use of images of police officers that might jeopardise their or their family’s safety or that of protected facilities or police operations".
