Important:

This petition was submitted during the 2015-2017 parliament

Rejected petition Abolish or reform any ceremony which obliges one human to kneel before another.

The reasons are self evident to any democrat. The wording does not discourage kneeling before an invisible god. It will not put shoeshine boys out of business. Those who can grovel cheerfully will remain free to do so.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

The UK Parliament and Government are not responsible for all ceremonies carried out in the UK.

If you would like the UK Parliament to legislate to make it illegal to oblige a person to kneel before another, we could accept a petition about that. Alternatively, you could ask for Parliament and Government to remove any obligation to kneel from any of the ceremonies for which they are responsible.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
