Rejected petition Abolish the 5p carrier bag charge in all shops.

The economy will be negatively impacted as people will shop less if they have to take bags with them everywhere or pay for a bag if they forget them. More should be done to make the carrier bag producers make Eco-friendly bags instead of punishing the general public.

There are many alternatives to plastic but again no pressure has been placed on anyone to switch to these, just making the public spend more of their hard earned wages will not help the environment.
