Rejected petition Austerity why are MPs, aids and county councilors not facing cut like others

austerity changes we'll told effect all but government MPs + aids & local authority councilors have been untouched and in some areas increased. Shouldnt these as front line staff have had to undertake face reductions/cuts and increase to work load as others within local & gov have had to deal with

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

It's clear that you're concerned about cuts in the public sector, but it's not clear what action you would like the Government or Parliament to take.

We can't accept petitions about MPs' pay, because the Government and Parliament don’t have the power to set MPs’ pay. That power was given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010, so that after 2012 MPs no longer had control over their own pay. IPSA conducted a public consultation after 2012 and decided what the salaries of MPs should be after the election.

If you would like to contact IPSA about its decision, here’s how to contact them:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
