Presently non EU spouses of UK nationals have to complete a five year probationary period from arrival in the UK before they can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain status at an overall £3,000. On the other hand EU nationals in the UK can apply for residence cards after only 3 months here for £65.

This is clear discrimination against the UK nationals and their spouses as well as delaying, if not depriving, the people of the right to a family life. These draconian measures may well prove to be illegal if and when challenged.
