Rejected petition Withdraw all UK forces from Syria and end UK involvement in the war.

With continued military escalation in Syria, the UK is becoming increasingly exposed to becoming involved in a drawn out global war that could see the UK mainland targeted by nuclear weapons. We need to de-escalate the conflict by withdrawing our own forces and urging other nations to do the same.

More details

The conflict in Syria is escalating, and there have been a number of disturbing events that are stressing tensions between the UK and other global superpowers, including Russia.

The latest of these is the combination of the increasing deployment of air to air combat fighters from both Russian and US air forces to the region, along with an increased preparation for a "defensive" nuclear first strike against Russia, prompting a similar response from that nation.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We're not sure exactly what action you would like the Government to take. We are not aware that there are any UK combat troops in Syria.

Earl Howe, Minster of State for the Ministry of Defence, told Parliament on 20 July 2015 that "In accordance with a decision of the House of Commons on 26 September 2014 we have been involved in coalition operations against ISIL in Iraq, and we have supported our allies in their operations against ISIL in Syria—notably in surveillance operations."

If you would like the UK to withdraw its support for any operations in Syria, you could start a petition asking for that.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
