we are still engaged in a war on terror, so civilian victims of terrorist atrocities should be recognised as much as military casualties.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We cannot accept your petition as the issue it covers is not something that the UK Government or Parliament are responsible for.

Tradition and precedents, rather than the UK Government or Parliament, set out that Remembrance Sunday commemorates the contribution of all British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

If there is a specific action that you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take which is within their power, you could start a new petition asking specifically for that action. For example, you could ask the Government to create a national event that commemorates those who die in terrorist attacks.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
