Closed petition Right to Defend Self and Family with Whatever Means Necessary - when threatened by a criminal act.

Closed on

We the undersigned call for the Government to bring in to law the right to defend oneself and one's family using whatever means necessary when their immediate safety is threatened by someone committing or attempting to commit a criminal act, including but not limited to murder, rape, home invasion, burglary, robbery, and assault.

Providing the criminal act or intent can be established, and the victims' sense of fear for their immediate safety reasonably justified, the victims should be free to use whatever means necessary to defend themselves and their family, without fear of prosecution.

Innocent victims of crime placed in immediate danger should never, out of fear of prosecution, have to take the gamble of second-guessing their aggressor's character or intentions when deciding how to act. The law should afford the innocent the best possible chance of escaping unharmed by granting them the right to use whatever means necessary to do so.
