Rejected petition Remove Tony Hall from the positon of Director General of the BBC
The BBC was the world premier broadcaster. Today it is out of touch with its owners, the British public and license fee payers.
The BBC does NOT consult with its stake-holders and in fact is just a political football for all parties to complain about.

This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The Director-General of the BBC is not appointed by the Government or Parliament. He or she is appointed by the BBC Trust.
The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.
We could accept a petition specifically about Foreign Office funding of the World Service.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
