As you are probably aware there have been numerous reportings of rape and attempted rape in the Sheffield city centre and Ecclesall road area recently.

In the wake of the massively devastating death of Hallam student Caroline Everest, I feel that more needs to be done to help keep us all safe whilst we're living our daily lives in the city.
Hallam have begun a scheme to give out free alarms however how much will these work in sole use?
A few, simple self defence moves and knowledge may make the difference as well as using the alarm by buying time to call for help and potentially disabling the attacker.
Would you make use of this free service if Sheffield Hallam University campuses were to offer it?
