The British tax payer spends over £100 Million every year on interpreting services for people who can speak English, This money could be spent elsewhere on vital services like the NHS or Police force.

Everyone who lives within the UK are currently allowed free interpreting services for Doctor’s or Hospital appointment etc
I have worked for an NHS interpreting service for 7 years and have noticed how much is spent on interpreting services every year in just one city, the figures are overwhelming.

I believe if you live in a foreign country that you should at least learn to speak the language but if you can’t be bothered then you should be solely responsible for your own interpreting costs
