Petition Lower VAT for hospitality business, hotel, accommodation and tourism sector
Unfair VAT levels hold back the hotel trade in the UK. The hotel trade is labour intensive. Most hotel expenses are not VAT reclaimable. There is not a lot a hotel can claim VAT back on, unlike the retail trade and manufacturing. VAT is virtually 20% of all a hotel turnover with little reclaimable.
