Closed Don’t Close Calderstones Hospital. Save our NHS services, don’t dump patients.

The Calderstones site in Whalley is the only one of its kind in the country, supporting adults with learning difficulties who have committed serious index/criminal offences. Calderstones is a purpose built site,supporting vulnerable adults,with access to all therapeutic services onsite.

At Calderstones, highly-trained NHS staff provide 24/7 support for 200+ such adults. If the planned closure goes ahead, underfunded private providers, will not be adequate to provide quality 24/7 care to ensure the safety of vulnerable people and the communities where they are placed. Healthwatch Lancashire said that services will only move on when the appropriate care provision is in place, and that The closure of Calderstones hospital has the potential to undermine this plan.
