Rejected petition Introduce a text service for emergency services for when voice calls aren't safe

A text service is needed for when emergency services are required but it isn't safe to make sound. An example of this situation would be a terror attack or home break in where a person would have to hide for their safety. A voice call to 999 would attract attention from the attacker, a text is safer

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

A service like this already exists:

http://www.emergencysms.org.uk/

It is supported by the UK Government and the emergency services, among others.

If you would like the Government to take a different action - perhaps to take steps to promote this service so that more people are aware of it - you could start a petition about that.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
