Rejected petition Government to reconsider their new policy to test 11 year olds on times tables
This test will be too late by age 11. A child's ability should be established by the start of KS2 and then monitored closely. All this will achieve is to put extra pressure and stress on both teachers, children's and parents who will need to try and help our children through these tests.
More details
Professor Boalor, professor of maths at Stanford Univercity has already stated that this testing is not a good idea and that all it will show is that a child has a good memory not good education. She goes on to say about the unnessary pressure it will put on the children.
