More details
The sovereignty over Hong Kong was returned to China in 1997. Nearly 20 years have gone now and the mission of BNO is completed. It will only frequents diplomatic disputes with China as China will consider UK's moral responsibility to Hong Kong as interfering in China's internal affairs. Design of the BNO passports are almost identical to that of the British Citizen passports, except that the latter bear the text European Union on their front cover.
