Rejected petition Ensure that "postal" votes are counted.

Currently postal votes never get counted, why because the postal votes are sent out, rarely arrive before the vote, and the return never gets to the voting place before at least 2 days after the vote.

More details

We live in France, the post office send out the letters by air mail this means 2 day until on a plane, another 2 days in the customs hall at reception airport. (If an air mail stamp is used then it has to go by airmail, if not then to France, Belgium, Luxembourg etc it goes by train, no customs hall! Letters take about 2 days) Councils are obliged to put on airmail stickers. There is therefore no way we get the vote.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The sending out of postal votes is the responsibility of local councils. You could raise the difficulties you have had with the council in the area where you vote in the UK.

If you would like Parliament to change the law to make changes to the postal vote system, you could start a petition calling for the change you want.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
