Rejected petition Make the Free Bus Pass Rule the same for the whole of the United Kingdom

In England the ruling is that we will not get a free bus pass until we reach state pension age , In Scotland and Wales anyone who reaches the age of 60 are entitled to a free travel pass even if they are still working

More details

this should be fair across the whole of the United Kingdom so either lower the age in England or Raise the Age for entitlement in Scotland and Wales

This petition calls for the age for eligibility for a bus pass to be lowered in England.

As you probably know, the reason that different rules apply in different parts of the UK is that powers to make these decisions have been transferred to the Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Assembly and the Northern Ireland Assembly. The UK Government would not therefore be able to increase the age for a bus pass in those nations.

If you would like some powers to be taken back, so that the UK Government makes decisions that affect the whole of the UK on this subject, you could start a petition about that.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
