International Women Music Day was declared in UK in 2008 in the presence of Mayors, Mayoresses and Dignitaries. The Maroon Ribbon Campaign is a worldwide emblem and helps to support and encourage women working within the music industry to pave the way for generations to come.

The decision to start such a campaign comes from personal experience of sexism and lack of equality.
