Rejected petition Review Basingstoke Council's decision on Basingstoke Town FC's new stadium

After 10 years of negotiation with Basingstoke Council, Basingstoke Town FC have now been advised that the council have gone back on their original decision to allow the club to build a new modern stadium (paid for in its entirety by BTFC) on council land. Councils should support their sports teams.

More details

BTFC have been in negotiation and discussion with Basingstoke Council for years regarding a much needed new modern football stadium for the club and the local community. The council suggested a site of theirs called 'Old Common Road' in 2011 (which the club agreed with) but on January 26th have u-turned following protests and political squabbles. The sale of the land current stadium was to pay for the new stadium (no council funds). Plans for the stadium are available bit.do/btfcstadium
