Could it not be possible to safeguard ebay, twitter and facebook et al by making it's users have to supply a utility bill and photo id in order to get and maintain an account? People's privacy could be preserved on social networks and it'd be easier to prevent stolen goods being sold online, malicious gossip, online bullying and riot co-ordination. This technology is a wonderful thing, but perhaps needs restraints.
