Rejected petition Reform the law for a driving licence and how its issued and reissued to all ages

My brother Michael Luciw was killed by an 87yr old man who was driving the wrong way down the M1. I believe that if there was a better way of testing and checking peoples ability to be able to drive my brother and many other people would still be alive.

More details

of the 6029 car drivers or seriously injured in 2012: 8% were aged 17-19 25% 20-29, 42% 30-59, 9% 60-69, and 13% were aged over 70. 1351 deaths by people aged 60+ in 2012 and only 470 aged under 19
there are over four million people on UK roads aged over 70 and this is rising every year. as a government this needs to be addressed as there is a growing risk that there could be more road deaths that could of been avoided if only there was a better way of checking each persons driving ability

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We were very sorry to read about the death of your brother. Please accept our condolences.

We are not able to accept your petition in its current form, because it is not clear what action you would like the Government or Parliament to take. You could start a new petition, explaining more clearly how you would like the process for issuing and renewing driving licences to change.

We already have some petition open on the site calling for the requirements for drivers over certain ages to be changed. You may wish to sign one of these petitions.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
