Petition Prove that fining parents for kids' term time absence has reduced truancy rates

I have heard no evidence that fining parents for taking children out of school during term time has had any effect at all. In fact, Wales has opted out and I believe some schools' governing bodies are doing/have done likewise. I also believe the fine should go to the school and not the government.
